Florida CCW Requirements
Everything you need to know about getting your Florida Concealed Carry permit
Florida is a "shall issue" state, meaning the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services must issue a concealed weapon license to any applicant who meets the statutory criteria. Our CCW class satisfies 100% of Florida's training requirement.
Basic Eligibility Requirements
- Age Requirement
Must be 21 years of age or older (or 18+ for military members/veterans)
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
- No Felony Convictions
Cannot have a felony conviction (unless civil rights have been restored)
- No Domestic Violence Convictions
Cannot have misdemeanor conviction for domestic violence
- Not Under Injunction
Cannot be under an injunction for protection (restraining order)
- Mental Competency
Cannot have been adjudicated mentally defective or committed to a mental institution
- No Substance Abuse
Cannot be a chronic alcoholic or addicted to controlled substances
Training Requirement
Florida requires proof of competency with a firearm. Our CCW class provides a certificate that satisfies this requirement. The training must demonstrate competence with a firearm through:
- • Completion of a firearms safety course taught by an NRA certified instructor
- • Live-fire range qualification
- • Understanding of Florida firearms laws
- • Knowledge of use of force and conflict resolution
- • Safe handling, storage, and use of firearms

Documents Needed for Application
- Completed application form
- Training certificate (provided after our CCW class)
- Passport-style color photo
- Copy of driver's license or state ID
- Application fee ($97 for Florida residents, varies for non-residents)

Disqualifying Factors
You may be ineligible if you:
- • Have had adjudication withheld on a felony or certain misdemeanors within 3 years
- • Have two or more DUI convictions within 3 years
- • Are currently facing felony charges
- • Have been committed to a mental institution
- • Have a dishonorable discharge from the military
- • Are subject to an active restraining order
